There are several things to understand if you have a faulty water heater.
What makes a water heater?
This is where the water is heated in the home; the tank is comprised of two main parts, the interior which is made with metal and has a protective water liner, and the exterior, which is insulated with polyurethane foam. It also has a slim steel shell.
This is the device used to heat the water within the storage tank. Electric tanks use two electric powered heating elements; gas heaters use a burner beneath the tank; it also has a flue system that allows exhausts to pass through the center of the tank.
WHAT CAUSES WATER HEATERS TO FAIL?
This can take place if the sacrificial Anode rod deteriorates and it’s not replaced. Although the Anode rod is not expensive, if damaged, it can cause the water heater not to function properly.
Scale and Sediment
This occurs when you heat the water repeatedly over a long time. If the sediment is left without cleaning, it will lead to the anode rod being unable to prevent corrosion.
A voltage increase to the element that is caused by a power surge can damage the water heater. The heating elements have a rating, and if the voltage goes beyond the rating, the element will burn out.
Wires can also be a cause of damage. It is important that you check the wires carefully. A poor connection or a faulty wire can cause the element from working!
This helps to regulate the element based on the set temperature level. It has a switch that regulates the power in case the temperature gets too high. If this is faulty, then your heater will fail to work as it ought to
High water Pressure
If the pressure is too much, it can cause the heater to get damaged. In fact, this will include the pipes and other appliances. If water leaks from an overflown pipe by your water heater, you might have issues with pressure.
This can also be a cause for the faults in your water heater. A water heater has a life span of 8 to 12 years, anything above that is ill-advised. If your heater develops faults and it is above 8 or 12 years, it might need to be replaced.
There are lots of reasons why you need an expert to fix your heater. The first reason would be because it is tricky to handle and any mistake in installation might cause damage to the element. There is a set pressure and amount of power that should be sent into it; if it is not properly done, there can be issues. It is important to always maintain your water heater regularly to prevent and eradicate sediments.
